The arrivals of imported apples has been increasing, including more coming being imported from New Zealand. There is a consensus that, at the moment, smaller-sized apples are superior to large ones. Furthermore, the higher cost of larger fruits is a major factor. Merchants claimed that as a result of the hurricane that hit the region in the first week of the year, which affected apple production, the price for New Zealand apples has increased approximately 15%-20% over the course of this year.
Additionally, according to the estimations of traders who offer apples from various countries it is possible that the arrival of Chilean apple this year could decline due to last year’s results that weren’t as great as anticipated. South African apples sold well this year because of their delicious flavor, and this year could see an increase in quantity. Apple sales in the second part of the week have been acceptable, and could be due to the decline in durians’ arrival.
