2021 Global Food Crises Report

The 2021 Global Food Crises Report highlights the remarkably high severity and numbers of people in Crisis or worse in 55 countries/territories, driven by persistent conflict, pre-existing and COVID-19-related economic shocks, and weather extremes. The Philippines Entering Lucrative Agarwood Industry

A DRAFT administrative order that may pave the way for the commercial propagation of the agarwood-producing Aquilaria tree species in the Philippines amid the pandemic is now being reviewed by a technical working group of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Office. Thailand’s Durian Exports to China up 14% on the Year

It is currently the durian season in Thailand. Chanthaburi, a producer in eastern Thailand, set the record of receiving orders for 20 tons (approximately 10,000) of fresh durians from Chinese buyers in one day. The product will be transported to the Port of Shenzhen by chartered flights and distributed to all parts of China within 1 to 2 days. The Agroforestry Group in Malaysia has today announced that their rebranding has been fully completed with the name change of Plantations International Agarwood Sdn Bhd to AFG Agarwood Sdn Bhd . All Agroforestry Group clients with Agarwood within Malaysia now fully fall under Agroforestry Group. Also all logos to represent the new Agroforestry Group identity. China’s 2020 Fruit Imports Surpass $10 Billion – Durian Leading the Way

According to a report from the fruit branch of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products, China’s customs statistics indicate that the value of fruit imports exceeded $10 billion for the first time in 2020, reaching a total value of $10.26 billion — an 8% increase over the previous year. In contrast, the total fruit import volume declined by 8%, reaching 6.302 million tons.
